We celebrated Branson's dedication last Saturday afternoon. We were blessed to be surrounded by family for the event. It was a special time for us as we ceremonially gave Branson back to God. Here is a little explanation of why we dedicate our boys (taken from a letter that we wrote for Branson)...
"Today we are dedicating you to God for 3 very important
reasons. First and foremost, we
are dedicating you as our way of thanking God for entrusting you to us and to
celebrate your very existence.
Secondly, we are dedicating you to make a promise to you, our family,
and to God, that we intend to raise you in a home that is empowering,
encouraging, loving, and Christ-centered, and to make it know that we wish to
be held accountable to this task.
And third, we are dedicating you today as a way to give you back to God."
During the dedication we have family members read prayers that they have written for Branson - I will keep these prayers and add them to his baby book so that he can read them later in life and know that his life has been bathed in prayer by his sweet family.
Matt and I have chosen a life verse for both our boys - we shared Branson's with him at the dedication...
1 Timothy 11:6
“But you, man of God, run from all evil things. Pursue
righteousness and a Godly life, along with faith, love, perseverance, and
gentleness.”
