Anacortes, WA

September has been a busy month.  There were five weekends this month and Matt's life was filled with an Orientation Weekend, First Year Retreat, Athletes Retreat & Alumni Weekend - leaving one lone weekend that he had off and so he decided that we should head south to getaway - it was a fantastic idea:)

Our first pit spot on the way down - Olive Garden - all you can eat breadsticks and salad for this preggo lady!

final destination...Anacortes, WA
 - a cute little island town full of antique stores, old bookstores & cafes

we stayed at this cute old inn - The Majestic Inn and Spa - it was lovely!

it was old, but very well kept!
(this phone was a working phone)

so beautiful!

old radiators to heat the room

lovely tile

the next day we went touring in the little town of Anacortes - Matt found some unique friends:)

very strange...

on our way off the island we stopped at the famous Deception Pass bridge - it was impressive - it connects two different islands together (sorry for the ancient looking picture - it was the only way I could change it so you could actually see the bridge)

we stopped in Bellingham and did a little shopping and of course stopped at the dairy for some ice cream before we passed back into Canada.

It was a great weekend away - no work, no cells - just the two of us - SOOOO GOOD!!!

Farewell Jenn

We had a going away party for our of our nurses, Jenn. She has actually been gone for quite some time - it just took us some time to get our party together!  We had a great night together celebrating Jenn - she is a beautiful person inside and out and we miss her in our NICU!

Matt's Cave...

Along with Matt's new position came a new office that has been loving named Matt's Cave:)

One Saturday at the end of August we decided to go in - purge - clean - rearrange and make it Matt's own...it was no little feat:)

Just a little picture of what was waiting for us...I don't think the furniture had been moved/cleaned in years!
the way the office had been...
emptying out...
Here is a tour of the (almost) finished office...
Matt's library has found a new home (forgive the pile on the floor - it still needs to be purged through)
the sitting area - open for visitors (forgive the two picture frames without pictures - the pictures somehow got lost in the mail)
the desk area (again - more pictures coming to fill the frames)
the new AD in his fancy new office - working hard!
the office looks great and is way more inviting/functional - come by and visit anytime - but not for too long - this AD has lots of work to do:)

Quilting

I have wanted to learn the art of quilting for awhile now and when a lovely co-worker volunteered her expertise I jumped at the opportunity!  I started off with a baby size quilt and quite frankly don't know that I ever want to do a adult size one...there is just so much fabric to sew.

My first quilt - the finished product...

Can't wait to make more now:)

Lately...

Just some random iphone pics from the last few weeks...

pricing out items for Baby K's new room...Matt was having a good time:)
 a little furniture re-do
tea with the ladies

the weather has remained BEAUTIFUL out here so date night last week included a walk with a little stop for some fresh gelato!

Pedi Date Night

Life has been crazy busy with Matt starting up a new job, him running orientation and us trying to get ready for Baby K SOOOO I decided to take things into my own hands for last weeks date night.  I have always told Matt how much he would enjoy a pedicure - he was never too into the idea (I think it was more so what will people think if they see me).  Anywho - I found a fairly secluded little shop and he was in (really any chance to sit, soak and get a foot massage!?!)

Matt's first pedi - I told him not to get too addicted (it could become an expensive hobby)

he loved it!!!
and the cute little ladies loved him - they kept giggling and commenting on how big his feet are

my mildly swollen little toes - they look so much better when painted pretty - it's getting harder and harder for me to reach down that far

my view...

our clean, clipped and massaged feet:)
