The Upstairs Hallway

The upstairs hallway is complete - well almost - minus a little painting and caulking of trim - but you can't tell that in the pictures :)

Our To Do List
- paint walls
- install crown moulding
- new baseboards & casings
- add headers above the doors
- decorate

The Before...............And After

For the decor we decided to make an instagram gallery wall!  I'm hoping to switch the pictures out of the frames every couple of months - that way we will always have fairly up to date family pictures in them.

Auntie Becca Comes to Town!

Becca came to visit us last week - we had a great time together!

Becca with my beautiful hydrangeas that were grown and delivered by a friend :)

We took Becca strawberry picking one day

Working the fields

the berries were smaller this year which means we had to pick more of them to fill our buckets
our earnings!

after picking we stopped by the petting zoo

and then off to the bakery

mmmm - warm shortcake - made fresh!

and one final photo op

Becca and I headed across the bridge one day to do a little shopping

The final day Becca was here Sully and I took her to a local tea house that I had been wanting to go to. It's an old general store that they have made half of it into a tea house and the other half filled with candy, food and other general store type finds - it's cute!

the food was great - ESPECIALLY the Bumbleberry Pie we split for dessert :)

Outside Clayburn General Store
We so enjoy having Becca come visit.  She loves Sully well!  And us well too - she babysat one night so Matt and I could go on a date - what a treat!  Come anytime Becca - we love you!

A Labor of Love!

For our fifth wedding anniversary Matt found me this BEAUTIFUL buffet!!!  It was pretty when he first brought it home, but after many hours and a lot of TLC it is GORGEOUS!!!

The final product - I love it!!!

The before shot.

The process...

step 1 - stripping

this was messy, smelly work, but oddly enough I think Matt still enjoyed himself

step 2 - sanding...

step 3 - we originally thought we would paint the buffet but after it was stripped and sanded it was so beautiful in it's raw form that we decided just to leave it as it was - Matt painted on a clear coat finish and it was complete

step 4 - putting all the pieces back together

Sully loves to watch Matt work - it's their man time - can you tell he looks up to his daddy :)

the wonderful finished product - perfect fit for out little alcove in the dining room

fantastic details

cute little hidden silverware drawer

first refinishing project complete!

Happy Anniversary to me - best gift ever!!!
