Elk Mountain Hike

We have had some beautiful fall days - we took advantage of one of those beautiful days, on Saturday, by climbing a mountain :)  Elk Mountain has been on our "to hike" list for awhile and it did not dissappoint.  We hiked with our friends the Walls.  It was a challenging hike with all of us carrying a little on our back weighing between 20-30lbs.  It was 8km (roundtrip) hike with some very steep sections, but the view at the end was SO WORTH IT!

Baby B ready to hike!  It was a beautiful day, but because we were climbing up to such a high elevation we had to dress for cool weather.

Matt and Sully selfie

turns out we didn't take any pictures going up the mountain (we were to busy putting one foot in front of the other) but here we are at the top - Sully is helping Lily stay warm :)

the summit!

it was a clear day and you could see for miles!

a pano view

the Walls

this is definitely Branson's highest bum change of his life

the trees out her are just starting to change color which added to the beauty and yes that's Mount Baker peeking out past the mountain range!

pretty leaves

we are excited for the decent!

these two pictures show you the grade of the hike - the difference in the picture taker and the people in the picture is like 10 very steep steps!

the crew!

heading down

a lot of the hike was in a forest with tall trees - lovely!

Branson slept the majority of the hike but when he woke up he was all eyes checking everything out

we were all pretty tuckered out by the end of the hike

back at the car - we made it!  so thankful to live in this beautiful part of the world!
