Running in Seattle

Matt and I headed down to Seattle this weekend - we visited with good friends and I ran my second 1/2 marathon.  

To begin our weekend - as always when we head to Seattle - we must first wait in the border line.  We only had to wait for 1:40 this time!  Whenever we decide it's a good time to head to the states apparently so does all of Canada!  The border guard asked us four very quick questions and we were on our way!  As a reward, we stopped for ice-cream once we were in the states!

Sat. morning we were up at 5:45 - the race started at 7am.  Here we are waiting in traffic to get to the race at 6:30am on Sat morning!

This is the crowd that Matt & Ruthie had to find me in...soo many people.  There were over 21,000 participants in the 1/2 and full marathons plus all of the families!

Here I am!  This is probably 20 min post race...I had already drank one bottle of 'gatorade', one bottle of water, three orange pieces and as you can see was working on my banana.

I did it!!!  1/2 marathon #2 COMPLETE!

I came in 5536 out of 15,541 runners in my race.  11,339 of those racers were women and I was the 3218 woman to cross the line. 

This marathon was called the Rock n' Roll marathon - there were bands every mile of the race - it was rocking:)

Because the race was such an early start we still had the full day after to play in the beautiful weather.  We always have so much fun with Thomas and Ruthie.  We played a little bocce.

Went on a little nature walk.

We went to supper at BJ's.  This is Matt's NEW favorite resturant...he scouts them out in the US - whenever we go to the states he checks to see if we will be near one.  Thomas and Ruth were kind enough to take us to one in WA.  We ate WAY to much but it was sooo good!

Such a GREAT weekend with GREAT friends!

Manicure!!!

My husband is AMAZING!!!  

Earlier this year Matt brought home a little treat for me!  A gift card for a local spa for a manicure with MY HUSBAND!!!  I always tell Matt how much he would like a pedicure - they give you a massage, file your feet down - it's great!  So for a treat Matt decided to come with me for the manicure experience!  We finally used the card this past week.  We wore the slippers, the white bathrobes, sat in the free steam room, ate the free food, drank the free drinks - we were there for about two hours and our manicure only took one hour!  Matt is such a good sport - he took full advantage of the spa experience and I think thoroughly enjoyed himself!  There was a shower 'room' in the men's side and being that his manicure was done before mine he came out from the men's lounge fully shaved, clean and smelling fantastic!

Dinosaurs!!!

On Saturday, Matt and I headed into Vancouver to a mall that had a little dinosaur display on.  They had a life-size T-Rex that moved and made noise.  It was a lovely afternoon - a little bit of dinosaurs and a little bit of shopping! 

First Anniversary take 2!

Because we were away at another wedding the weekend of our anniversary (and then moving the next weekend after our anniversary) we had decided to temporarily postpone our 'anniversary getaway' until last weekend.  After work on Friday we headed out to Agassiz to the Blackberry Lane B&B!  It was a lovely B&B with very welcoming hosts and a great facility nestled into beautiful farm country!

We took a evening stroll through the farmyards and mountains!

Near the B&B is an old cemetery on a hill.  It was beautiful and we did a little exploring.

Tons of wild flowers were growing all over the cemetery hill.

After our evening walk we came back for a long relaxing soak.

One of my favorites about a good B&B is the matching bathrobes!!!

We were so thankful for our little getaway!  It was so relaxing - we were well taken care of...from fresh out of the oven pie to a gourmet breakfast in the morning!

And now onto year two....!!!

Biking across Canada

Uncle Bryan stayed with us our first night at our new place!  He is on a bike trek across Canada  - we were glad we could be his first stop!

Moved to the country...

We have moved!  Matt and I both decided that we very much dislike all the work that moving entails!  The packing, loading, unloading, repacking not to mention the CLEANING!

Ed & Marlene (a wonderful couple that we worked at camp with) have so graciously offered us a place to stay in their basement for three months.  They will be gone for two of those months and we will be on lawn duty.  They live on Sumas flats on a beautiful acreage - it is a treat to be in the 'country' for the summer!

Our moving weekend...everything was packed and ready to be moved - some to our new house and some to storage.

The Waddington was our first home as a married couple - we will miss our little apartment!

Many great memories were had in this building!

We fit 80% of our possesions into a 5x10 storage locker!  Matt is a very talented packer!

1st Anniversary!

This was us one year ago today!

We were in Kelowna, for a wedding, staying at Green Bay last night.  Matt planned out a scavenger hunt that took me to twelve significant spots at camp where significant things have taken place - things like getting engaged and married!

The 'gift' for first anniversary's is paper - so the scavenger hunt included much paper as well as the fantastic gift at the end - I'm spoiled!

At the end of the scavenger hunt - with twelve roses and many GREAT memories!

Being in Kelowna the perfect place to spend our anniversary!

What a blessing marriage has been for us!  We countinue to pursue God in and through our marriage and are excited about God has in store for us in year two!

Flo & Italy Wedding

This past weekend was spent in one of our favorite places in the world to be - KELOWNA!

We were privileged to join Flo & Italy at their wedding celebration.

Sat. was a BEAUTIFUL day - HOT HOT HOT - we spent some time between the wedding and reception at a local resturant - we sat on the patio and sweat!

It was a great weekend of reuniting with great friends from camp - love these guys!

Our good friends Phil & Cheryl were married this past weekend - it was a beautiful time of celebration and worship!

The ceremony and reception were all outside and the weather could not have been better!

Correna was out to visit for the weekend - it was a great chance to catch up face to face and spend some good girl time together while Matt was away at a boys weekend!  We spent Sat. morning at the spa (THANK YOU CORRENA AND STEVE). I was VERY EXCITED about the spa date:)

The spa was in White Rock and the weather was beautiful so walked along the ocean and had lunch at an outdoor resturant - glorious!

This was also my first visit with baby Parkinson - it was so nice to finally meet in person!

Gone Fishing

We have been having a beautiful spring out here in BC.  This past weekend we went hiking with friends and stopped for a little fishing along the way.
